Ana Paula Scher (USP/UFJF/CNPq)

Ana Paula Scher has a B.A. in Languages by the University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) (1988), an M. A. in Linguistics by the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (1996), a PhD in Linguistics by the same institution (2004), and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Calgary (2006), University College London (2011-2012), University of Campinas (UNICAMP) (2017-2018), and currently at University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF). She is a professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), since 1998. She works in the Linguistics field, with a focus on Generative Theory, particularly within the Distributed Morphology framework. Additionally, she is one of the creators of the Brazilian Colloquium of Morphology (CBM), and leads the Grupo de Estudos em Morfologia Distribuída (GREMD). She was also one of the forerunners of Distributed Morphology in Brazil. Topics investigated by Scher include truncation and blending in Brazilian Portuguese, root suppletion in collective nouns, and evaluative morphology. She recently collaborated with other Brazilian researchers to organize a handbook of Distributed Morphology.

Indaiá de Santana Bassani (UNIFESP)

Indaiá de Santana Bassani is an associate professor at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). Her research focuses on morphology and its interfaces, with a particular interest in psycholinguistics, language acquisition and language processing. She holds a PhD in Linguistics at the University of São Paulo completed a postdoctoral research program at New York University. Within the framework of Distributed Morphology, her main works investigate prefixal allomorphy in Brazilian Portuguese verbs, the integration of semantic content with roots, semantic compositionality, and the argument structure of verbs. Together with Ana Paula Scher and Paula Roberta Gabbai Armelin, she has recently organized a handbook of Distributed Morphology (2022).

Janayna

Janayna Maria da Rocha Carvalho (UFMG)

Janayna Carvalho holds a PhD from the University of São Paulo (USP) (2016). Since 2018, she is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Languages, Literature and Linguistics of the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Her research interests are currently focused on the morphosyntactic properties of Brazilian Portuguese, more specifically on topics related to ongoing parametric changes in this language.

Maurício Sartori Resende (UFMG)

Maurício Resende is an assistant professor at the University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), coordinator of the Núcleo de Estudos em Morfologia Distribuída e Interfaces (NuEMDI) at the same institution and is a member of the Morphology committee by the Brazilian Linguistics Association (ABRALIN). He has conducted postdoctoral research in Linguistics at the University of São Paulo (USP), has a PhD in Linguistics by the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), an M.A. in Linguistics by the University of Paraná (UFPR), a B. A. in Linguistics by the University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and a major in Portuguese by the same institution. Resende’s work is devoted to Linguistic theory, specifically within the Distributed Morphology framework and its interplay with Syntax and Formal Semantics; he also works as an English/Portuguese translator within the Linguistics field. The topics he is most interested in are word formation, aspect, modality, morphology acquisition, and Portuguese diachronic Linguistics.

Paula

Paula Roberta Gabbai Armelin (UFJF)

Paula Roberta Gabbai Armelin holds a Ph.D. (2011-2015) in Linguistics from the University of São Paulo. She has been an associate research student at the Queen Mary University of London (2013-2014). She is currently an assistant professor at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and member of the Graduate Program in Linguistics at the same university. Her research focuses on the description and analysis of morphological, syntactic and morphosyntactic aspects of natural languages, from a formalist perspective of grammar. She is also interested in the relationship between Linguistic Theory and Psycholinguistics. Along with Ana Paula Scher and Indaiá Bassani, she organized and wrote the Handbook of Distributed Morphology (2022).
